Our Category C1 course is ideal for anyone looking to drive medium-sized vehicles between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes. This licence is commonly used for vehicles such as horse boxes, ambulances, motorhomes, and other specialist vehicles, making it a popular choice for both professional and personal use.

What’s required for me to gain my Category C1 licence?

To gain your Category C1 licence, you’ll need to complete the following steps:

Medical assessment – This is required to apply for your provisional C1 entitlement.
Theory tests – You must pass both the multiple-choice and hazard perception theory tests.
Driver CPC (if required) – If you intend to drive professionally, you will need to gain your Driver CPC, which is achieved by completing:
- CPC Case Studies
- Module 4 Practical Demonstration

If you are using your C1 licence for non-commercial purposes, the Driver CPC is not required. Our team will advise you on exactly what you need based on how you plan to use your licence.

How long will the course last?

The Category C1 course runs over 2 days, with your practical driving test taking place on the second day. Training is structured, focused, and tailored to your experience level, ensuring you’re fully prepared when test day arrives.
