Category C1+E Training – Medium-Sized Articulated Vehicles

The Category C1+E licence allows you to drive medium-sized vehicles with a trailer, where the trailer weighs more than 750kg and the combined maximum authorised mass is up to 12 tonnes. This licence is perfect for drivers operating vehicles such as horse boxes, small commercial trucks with trailers, or specialist vehicles that fall within this category.

What do I need to gain my Category C1+E licence?

To qualify for your Category C1+E entitlement, you will need to complete:

Medical assessment – Required for provisional C1+E entitlement
Theory tests – Multiple-choice and hazard perception (if not previously passed)
Driver CPC – Needed for professional driving and achieved through:
- CPC Case Studies
- CPC Module 4 Practical Demonstration

Course duration

The Category C1+E course runs over 3 days, with the practical driving test on the final day. Each day builds progressively, ensuring you are fully prepared for both the test and professional driving in real-world conditions.
